ACM UMAP is the premier international conference for researchers and practitioners working on systems that adapt to individual users or to groups of users, and which collect, represent, and model user information. The workshops provide a venue to discuss and explore emerging areas of User Modeling and Adaptive Hypermedia research with researchers and practitioners from industry and academia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage both researchers and industry practitioners to submit workshop proposals. We strongly suggest involving organizers from different institutions, bringing different perspectives to the workshop topic. We welcome workshops with a creative structure that may attract various types of contributions and may ensure rich interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers interested in submitting a workshop proposal are invited to contact us in advance, so we can help to design successful proposals. In particular, for workshop proposals with novel interactive formats, we are happy to assist in further developing and implementing the ideas and check with the conference organizers the feasibility of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"important-dates\">Important Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Proposal submission: <s>January 27, 2022<\/s><\/li><li>Notification of proposal acceptance:<s> February 10, 2022<\/s><\/li><li>Send the workshop description &amp; website URL: <s>February 24, 2022<\/s><\/li><li>Workshop summary camera-ready deadline: May 18, 2022&nbsp;<\/li><li>Workshop papers camera-ready deadline: May 18, 2022<\/li><li>Workshops date: July TBD, 2022<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All deadlines are 11:59 pm, AoE time (Anywhere on Earth).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"workshop-format\">Workshop Format<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this edition, our goal is to have a balanced workshop program comprising different workshop formats, bringing attention to newly emerging, currently evolving, and established research topics. Different full-day and half-day workshop schemas are possible, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Working group meetings around a problem or topic.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Mini-conferences on special topics, having their own paper submission and review processes.<\/li><li>Mini-competitions or challenges around selected topics with individual or team participation.<\/li><li>Interactive discussion meetings focusing on subtopics of the UMAP general research topics.<\/li><li>Joint panels for different workshops.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"instructions-for-proposers\">Instructions for Proposers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop proposals should be in <strong>English<\/strong>, not exceed <strong>5 pages,<\/strong> and submitted in a <strong>single-column<\/strong> format based on the following templates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>LaTeX<\/strong>:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/binaries\/content\/assets\/publications\/consolidated-tex-template\/acmart-primary.zip\">https:\/\/www.acm.org\/binaries\/content\/assets\/publications\/consolidated-tex-template\/acmart-primary.zip<\/a><\/li><li><strong>Overleaf<\/strong> (use \\documentclass[manuscript,review]{acmart} for single-column):<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.overleaf.com\/latex\/templates\/acm-conference-proceedings-master-template\/pnrfvrrdbfwt\">https:\/\/www.overleaf.com\/latex\/templates\/acm-conference-proceedings-master-template\/pnrfvrrdbfwt<\/a><\/li><li><strong>MS Word<\/strong>:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.org\/binaries\/content\/assets\/publications\/taps\/acm_submission_template.docx\">https:\/\/www.acm.org\/binaries\/content\/assets\/publications\/taps\/acm_submission_template.docx<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop proposals should be organized as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Workshop title and acronym.<\/li><li>Workshop chair(s) name, affiliation, and email address.<\/li><li>Workshop abstract (up to 200 words).\u00a0<\/li><li>Keywords (at least 3).\u00a0<\/li><li>Motivation and relevance to UMAP.<\/li><li>Workshop goals\/objectives and overall vision, coupled with desired outcomes.<\/li><li>Intended audience and number of participants, including how they will be selected\/invited.<\/li><li>Workshop structure, planned activities, the tentative schedule of events, and so on, discussing the mix of events such as paper presentations, invited talks, panels, and general discussions.\u00a0<\/li><li>Workshop duration, organized in time blocks of 1.5 hours (it is suggested to use 3 time blocks at maximum; proposals for longer workshops must be accompanied by an appropriate motivation).\u00a0<\/li><li>Workshop proceedings: it is our plan to prepare a UMAP adjunct proceedings volume where the papers from all the workshops will be published by ACM (detailed information will be provided). Please indicate here whether your workshop will lead to paper proceedings and if you plan to have them into the above UMAP adjunct proceedings volume. Please note that, in this case, you will need to adhere to the adjunct proceedings volume publication timeline (camera-ready version of the workshop papers sent to us by mid-May 2022) and you should be responsible for assuring that the authors of papers in your workshop follow the guidelines we will provide, to have them included in the UMAP adjunct proceedings volume. In case you decide to go with other options (e.g., not having papers published, use CEUR, use any other editorial you may prefer with their own deadlines), you will be responsible for the entire publication process (if any).\u00a0<\/li><li>Organizers with a brief bio (3-4 sentences) of each with respect to the content of the workshop.\u00a0 In the case of more than four organizers, please justify the need for each contribution.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Description of the past editions of the workshop (if available), including URLs, a brief statement on the development of the workshop series, e.g., in terms of topics, #paper submissions, and participants, post-workshop publications over the years and acceptance statistics.<\/li><li>Any other relevant information to support your proposal (e.g., tentative program committee).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After acceptance notification, organizers of accepted workshops are expected to (a) provide a link to their workshop web site containing information about aims and scope, topics, their important dates, their paper submission instructions (if any), the committees, contacts, and so on, (b) be responsible for their own publicity, (c) write a short workshop summary to be included in the conference proceedings, and (d) chair the workshop at the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that all the accepted workshops should support both virtual and physical attendance (although we hope physical attendance to be the preferred option for participants).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"submission-guidelines\">Submission Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshop proposals should be submitted in PDF via <a href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=umap22\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=umap22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EasyChair<\/a> (instructions will be provided).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"proceedings-and-registration-policy\">Proceedings and Registration Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed information about the registration types, costs, and policies of workshop organizers and workshop paper authors will be provided.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"workshop-chairs\">Workshop Chairs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Mirko Marras, University of Cagliari, Italy<\/li><li>Elvira Popescu, University of Craiova, Romania<\/li><li>Contact: <a href=\"mailto:umap2022-wt@um.org\">umap2022-wt@um.org<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ACM UMAP\u201922 is pleased to invite proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the conference.
