Call for Student Volunteer Applications

ACM UMAP 2026 is committed to promoting equity and inclusion for students attending the conference, particularly those from developing countries.

Note: the submission deadline is at 11:59 pm AoE (Anywhere on Earth) time.

As a student volunteer, you will:

receive a complimentary conference registration and the same benefits as other conference attendees.
have the unique opportunity to network with local and international researchers and world leaders in user modeling, adaptation, and personalization.
gain valuable experience for future scientific conferences and expand your connections within the UMAP community.
participate in a social event with the other student volunteers, as a way to thank you for your support.

Volunteer positions are competitive due to their limited availability. Applications are open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in user modeling, adaptation, and personalization, and related areas. To join the team as a volunteer, you must be enrolled as a PhD, Master’s, or full-time undergraduate student in a related program at the time of the conference, and have good written and spoken English communication skills.
Previous experience in conference organization is desired but not required. The number of volunteers from each region and institution may be balanced to ensure broad participation.
Students who have a Doctoral Consortium paper or another accepted paper are given priority for SV positions.

As a student volunteer, you are expected to:

provide up to 20 hours of service during the conference;
show up on time for their assigned tasks;
be responsible for assigned tasks;
be responsive to timely communication;
be sensitive for the needs of conference attendants, especially those with special needs;
act professionally;
responsibilities include managing the registration desk, helping set up demo sessions, providing on-site support to the organizing committee, assisting speakers during presentations, supporting as virtual event moderators, providing session support to virtual attendees, and other required activities.

Here, you will be asked to provide:

A short statement (1-2 paragraphs) explaining why you are interested in participating at ACM UMAP 2026.
Title of accepted papers in the conference (if any).
Attendance type (workshop, main conference, full).
A brief letter from a supervisor or advising professor in case you are a student. This letter (in PDF or scanned PDF) must confirm that you are a valid student who is going to benefit from participating. The letter should include your supervisor’s signature.
